While Moore & Sons originally built its reputation as a premier residential concrete driveway and patio contractor, our expertise has expanded considerably over the years. Today, we are a trusted contractor for large-scale industrial and commercial concrete projects, with a portfolio spanning British Columbia, Alberta and Saskatchewan.
Our experience ranges from municipal road improvements and airport runway upgrades to industrial foundations, heavy-duty concrete slabs and water reservoir tank bases. Here are just a few examples of the projects we have completed.
Moore & Sons is your single-source contractor for large-scale excavation, foundations and industrial concrete construction. We manage the entire process in-house, from excavation, forming and rebar installation to concrete supply, placing and finishing.
By keeping these key stages under one roof, we maintain greater control over quality, scheduling and coordination. It also reduces the risk of delays, communication gaps and other complications that can arise when multiple subcontractors are responsible for different parts of the job.
Whether your project involves a substantial industrial foundation, a heavy-duty equipment pad, municipal infrastructure or a large concrete pour, Moore & Sons brings the experience, equipment and hands-on project coordination needed to get the job done right.
To date, Moore & Sons has constructed 67 industrial-grade concrete bases for water reservoir tanks throughout Western Canada. These projects require careful attention to engineering specifications, reinforcement, concrete placement and finishing to deliver durable foundations for critical water infrastructure. Our largest completed tank base to date measures 80 feet in diameter and is located in Grand Forks, BC.
As part of this road-widening project, we removed and replaced 20 retaining walls, along with concrete sidewalks and stairs, to accommodate the new property lines. The work required careful coordination and precise construction to meet the project's requirements.
Over a period of more than two years, we completed various concrete and pavement removal works associated with YVR's south runway upgrades. Working on an active runway meant adhering to exceptionally strict safety procedures, inspections and operational schedules. Most of the work had to be completed between 10 p.m. and 5:30 a.m., followed by thorough runway inspections to ensure no debris was left behind. Even a single small piece of gravel can be sucked into the powerful jet engines of a large aircraft, potentially causing serious damage.
Our scope included jackhammering, removing and disposing of approximately five kilometres of 16-inch-thick asphalt and concrete to accommodate new runway lighting.
We have also completed sidewalk removal and replacement work for the City of Delta, contributing to the maintenance and improvement of municipal pedestrian infrastructure.
Our work with Polygon Homes has included foundations, retaining walls, concrete driveways, and kilometres of curbs and gutters, city sidewalks and high-back curbing for new subdivision developments. These projects demonstrate our ability to coordinate and deliver multiple concrete scopes across large development sites.
At a large fish fertilizer plant in Newton, we excavated for a substantial foundation measuring 100 feet by 77 feet, incorporating 10-foot-tall columns. The project also included a 7,700-square-foot concrete slab, six inches thick, built to serve the facility's industrial requirements.
For this agricultural facility, we constructed a heavy-duty concrete base measuring 30 feet by 40 feet and four feet thick. Engineered to support a total load of at least 600 metric tonnes, the slab provides a substantial foundation for six industrial grain silos.
