In Duncan, British Columbia, Moore & Sons has just completed a 40-foot-wide concrete base for a new water reservoir in Eagle Heights - marking an important milestone as the 60th industrial, commercial, or municipal water reservoir tank base we've built since 2016.
Duncan's water system depends on carefully managed surface water sources serving the wider Cowichan Valley, making reliable storage infrastructure essential. Reservoirs like this one help ensure consistent water supply, system resilience, and long-term community growth - especially during peak demand and dry seasons.
This project was another highly technical build, executed strictly to engineered specifications down to the finest detail. The 2-foot-thick grade beam was reinforced with 15M curved rebar and placed using 20 cubic metres of 25 MPa concrete. After the initial pour, the beam was protected overnight with insulated tarps to maintain proper curing temperatures in the chilly conditions.
Once complete, our crew moved on to installing the rebar for the 2-foot-thickened slab - an impressive amount of steel by any measure. The final slab pour required 60 cubic metres of 30 MPa concrete, bringing the structure together seamlessly.
We build reservoir tank bases like this regularly, and each one reflects the experience gained over dozens of successful projects. Another complex job delivered with precision - and made to look easy.
Outstanding work by the entire crew.
