We've just finished up a water and sewer service install in Cache Creek, and this one came with a few unexpected twists. The project was for a recently subdivided property that needed a second set of utility services. Our crew got it done under scorching 38+°C heat—something the locals at this historic Thompson-Nicola village seem to shrug off, but for our rain-soaked Vancouver team, it was definitely an extra challenge:-)
The first curveball came when we discovered the utilities weren't sitting at the mapped 5-foot depth, but way down at 7.5 feet. The second surprise? The piping diameter we were expecting to be 6 inches turned out to be 8 inches throughout. Both meant quick adjustments to our plan on the spot—but nothing our team couldn't handle.
Now the property is ready to welcome two families, each with their own fully serviced utilities, including concrete-encased conduit / duct bank for hydro and high-speed internet services.
A big shout-out to our crew for pushing through the heat and tackling the surprises with skill and grit. Great work, team!
